Linux - client doesn't start

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm on linux and tried running the game through wine (with Windows 7 compatibility mode)

The patcher runs fine, the setup too, but the client doesn't. Here's a log from wine :

Fontconfig warning: /etc/fonts/conf.avail/05-reset-dirs-sample.conf, line 6: unknown element reset-dirs
0009:err:winediag:wined3d_dll_init Forcing sample count to 0. This may not be compatible with all applications.
0009:fixme:ntdll:NtQuerySystemInformation (0x00000067,0x32e684,0x00000008,0x32e68c) stub

Graphically, it first shows the first screenshot ("[string "buf"]:1: unexpected symbol") for

Lua Files\DataInfo\ChangeDirectoryList
Lua Files\MsgString_KR
Lua Files\Common
Lua Files\wndInfo
Lua Files\HotKey

Lua Files\StateIcon\StateIconInfo
Lua Files\StateIcon\StateIconInfo_F
Lua Files\StateIcon\StateIconImgInfo
Lua Files\seekparty\party_booking_config
Lua Files\seekparty\party_booking_function

, and afterwards it shows the second screenshot ("attempt to call a nil value") once for `ResetTheHotKey` and in an infinite loop for `queryRegionInfo`

I know this is a windows client, so I wonder if you're planning on doing support for linux? (or better, making a linux client? Though might be too complicated)

I will probably reinstall windows in dual boot, but if it's possible to play it on linux it'd be better for me.

Dear Cesese, unfortunately a Linux system is not the OS we are comfortable working with. I've done some research myself on this matter but could sadly not find anything that could possibly solve your issues. Perhaps we can find another user on discord or on specific ragnarok portals who is using a linux os and could possibly assist. I regret not providing you any instructions on how to solve your issues as Linux is an edge case for us. In case you found a solution yourself, we would be happy if you could share it.

As for your other question, we don't plan to do support for linux as this is usually very uncommon used.

Best, Neffi
